ive gotten alot of recommendations on my instagram by people who worked on the game sharing their bts. A lot of this game’s cutscenes are a really good mix of 2d and cel shaded 3d in way that was done during cartoons in the early 2000s when they got really inspired by anime. It’s fucking amazing.
I’m definitely picking up hi-fi rush when i get the chance
I finished The World Ends With You and I think halfway through the sequel NEO: The World Ends With You. Lots of thoughts, some issues, but enjoying both games. Loved the story of the first game, hoping the second game’s plot is as good. I’d do more in depth review but hate typing on my phone.
@TheChicken if you get a chance, I think both games are absolutely worth your time. I hope Square Enix makes a third game, even though the second game didn’t do well in sales.
Ah man, I really do want to get into that series one day!.. I’m just not so keen on spending over 60$ on the first title. I just know that once I buy it, Squenix and Nintendo will host a sale for it the very next week.
I’ve heard even more great things about the sequel – which regularly goes on sale to 40$ – but man, that damn switch tax on the first game is frustrating and I wanna get into that first.
Little update on Hi-Fi Rush… I beat the first boss of the game, and man, this game really chugs on my device Definitely not even hitting 30fps most of the time on low settings, no idea why. I’m sure it might be related to how many moving parts there are in the level (that bop to the beat) as well as the heavy stylization of shadowing and lighting for the art style.
Anyway, experienced my first inability to hit beats during said boss fight… There’s a QTE you can trigger to deal massive damage against it, and I kept missing it every single time, despite being very rhythm-inclined.
A part of me would think to unfortunately refund this as I’m still under 2 hours… however I bought this from a key-seller (for a small discount, just saving money where I could) so that’s off the table since it’s a code… the game is definitely fun and the cutscenes at least are pretty stable, but it’s not the best experience I could be having by a long shot and that’s too bad.
Hopefully I can stick it out and the game doesn’t get too crazy that it becomes unplayable…
Another Wednesday goes by, another Switch Sports collection disappears, this time the Bird body type, and I missed it by one final reward…
(This game has a cosmetics rewards system that gives you points after every online game – every 100 points grants an item in a collection, a full collection grants a special costume, collections rotate out every 3 weeks.)
Dang timing. Ah well. Bye bye birdie.
unfortunately I was slacking on this recent collection, was busy with other things in my life, and so didn’t play ebough to get it done by now. And now it’s gone.
Dissapointing, but not devaststing.
Ah well. FOMO sucks and is a plague upon the games industry (not to mention how SwitchSports handles its points system, and how this collection might not appear again until Feb. 2024, if they’ll be giving us a full 52-week collection rotation by the final update…)
The sports can be really fun though and I really love Golf, way more than I had ages ago on the Wii.
My beloved
I’ll see you again sometime in the future…
Firstly, I’d like to state for the record that I enjoyed this game. But it’s not perfect, the game has some questionable pacing issues when it comes to core mechanics that are essential when it comes to exploring the open world. One such Mechanic is Lockpicking which you don’t unlock til around the Halfway Point of the Main Story. That being said I want to switch directions to the Combat now.
Hogwarts Legacy’s Combat System starts off basic, but as you unlock more spells and explore combining them dealing tons of damage in a very satisfying way. You can also use enemies attacks to your advantage as well. Unfortunately the enemy variety isn’t the greatest and after a few hours you basically seen it all when it comes to them.
I’ve completed all Side Quests in the game and I’ll simply say the companion quests are a big highlight when it comes to the side content. Sebastian probably has the most tragic and consequential story in the game. Poppy’s Questline out of the three student companions is probably the second best and explores the Fantastic Beast side of the Wizarding World. That being said I have to briefly bring up Natsai’s Questline. I had no clue what was going on during it and it felt like a big nothing burger compared to the other two Companion Students in the game where their quest lines had more substance. Natsais Questline basically boiled down to tracking down bad man and that’s about it. She is probably my least favorite character in the game because of how halfbaked her writing was.
Collectibles exist in the game and I’m glad to say they don’t feel intrusive at all since a bull of the game’s Challenge awards are cosmetic with a lot of fun and unique fashion options.
I don’t wanna go into the story that much, but I’ll say that the People you meet especially the teachers are fun. The score compliments the game very well and definitely makes the experience magical in an open world that has plenty of fun details.
Concluding I’d say Hogwarts Legacy is a 8/10 game. It’s good, but has issues. I’m glad it’s not a basic Ubisoft like Open World and is one of the better RPG’s I played in recent memory.
Okay one more Hi-Fi Rush update for the time being: I’ve turned all settings to Low or Off (except for Static Shadows because that completely ruins the cel shaded style) and I managed to get through Level 2 with a pretty stable, near-30 fps.
It could be because it was a very indoor factory level, but it could just be that sweet spot for my machine.
Anyway it’s a very fun game, the dialogue is goofy but fun, cutscenes very well animated and there are quite a few, and the combat and progression really have me bopping my head to the beat, even unintentionally.
I love how the soundtrack to the level builds up and changes over the course of each section. It’s very cool, very fun IMO
Reviews for Atomic Heart are all over the place, and I’m pretty sure I’ll agree with the criticisms, but I still really want to play it and get transported to this crazy world…
My gaming has been all Freelancer this past month. Never finished High On Life, then the Roiland News came out— but I still want to get back to it and wrap the game up.
As I wait for RE4 Remake I’m going back to a game, but with a new set of eyes so to speak. A little sleeper hit created by some guy who was from Pennsylvania called Skyrim.
For perspective on the whole new set of eyes thing here is the main menu and yes I changed the main menu music to something more beautiful
Some days when you walk around Bethesda, Maryland on clear, still nights you can hear the faintest cry of the damned. He moans “Buy Skyrim, you miserable fuck” long into the night.
I finished Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Enjoyed it, had a lot of fun. Hope Nintendo does more 3D Kirby. I need to play more of this franchise at some point.
The physical version of Metroid Prime Remastered drops on March 2nd in Europe, so will probably make that my next game.
