What Videogame(s) Are You Playing?

Well he is voiced by a comedian… Yes-Man does have some of the funniest lines in the game. Especially if you just do the opposite of what the game tells you to do.

Oh and on a side-note, people genuinly take the legion seriously?

There is a non-insignificant portion of Gamers who unironically love or engage in apologetics for Caesar’s Legion. Is it not surprising given how certain Gamers act online?

People take their funny Nevada mail man simulator seriously. So if by extension they take a radical group who crucify people ran by a man with cancer in the brain and only has 6 intelligence then yea sure.

The only trait Ole Eddie shares with Caesar is his fucking male pattern baldness.

I like to think a Fisto! to the head solves a lot of Caesars problems.

I think giving head to Fisto! would solve a lot of Caesar’s problems as well…

Wait, what?

late to the party but…

wait, so you think they are perfect…?

(i’m kidding! i know what you meant! please don’t hurt me!)

i only played through nv once (though it hit about 200ish hours over a 3-4 year period of playing on and off) but i couldn’t bring myself to side with any of the major factions. i had to go yes man.

while the ncr are arguably the least worst of the big three, my main issue with them is that they made the same conceptual/ideological mistake as the other two did: they lacked imagination.

all the major factions are trying to resurrect old systems of governance, none of which worked in that setting’s history. the people of fallout have a perfectly good blank slate to build/try something new and these chumps think resurrecting systems that led to the post-apocalyptic hellscape they’re currently in is a good idea? foolishness.

also: nv is such a goddamn good game. was my favourite rpg for a long time.

speaking of great rpgs, i’m playing pathfinder: wrath of the righteous. it’s really fucking good!

Arkham Origins, and it’s genuinely fantastic! I think I’m about half way through and I’d say it’s almost as good as Arkham City

annoying reddit contrarians love to act like the legion has a good point when actually they’re straightforwardly evil because the developers didn’t have enough time to work on them

Soooo… the important question: Did you let go? :smirk:

Do keep us posted on how that goes. I´ve been thinking of doing a survival build next time I play the game, but considering the first time it took me like 200 hours to finish, I´m not sure when/if I´ll get around to it

Another thing I´d like to do when/if I play the game again. Didn´t even bother to try and learn it the first time around. I was pretty upset you get banned from playing in casinos after a certain amount of wins…

The Arizona Killer quest is pretty Hitman-y. Some great options in it. If only it didn´t require you to side with that one faction…

Not being able to whack Moore at the end of a non-NCR playthrough was one of my few disappointments with the game. I hope some of the mods remedy this. Would´ve loved to go Mr. Sandman on her.

I always forget they´re actually wearing football armour, which is just ridiculous, but I gotta give a thumbs up to the Asterix and Obelix reasoning :+1:

Isn´t Fisto the one giving head? … Wait, nevermind…

Aah, I see I wasn´t the only one (took me only 2 years, but still)

Great point :+1:

Also: yes. I actually don´t play RPGs that much, so NV is still my favourite, along with Alpha Protocol probably (which has the added advantage of taking significantly less time to play through).

The fact that the Legion is the one underdeveloped faction in the game is such a shame. It´d be nice to have a genuine reason to side with them other than just seeing the different ending+dialogues.

On a side note, pretty surprised there´s not a Fallout thread here yet, considering how this blew up…

Death Stranding Director’s Cut:

I think I will actually start this over from the start. Since I imported my 100% Platinum PS4 save, I’m already a legend of legends. My zipline network is mostly intact. I have all the OG road built and am flush with resources to make stuff.

All I gotta do is re-complete some fabrication trophies because of the stuff they added, then that’s it!
In terms of New Content, I had to specifically look up a list to see what it is and where to find it. Its not entirely clear.
Basically, there’s just 3 new story missions in a small new building (two added early, one added post-game), some CP2077 and Half Life delivery missions, a race track, a firing range with combat challenges, and misc. new items to craft.
IMO not really enough to keep a completed post-game enjoyable, at least on its own.

Added Story

At least whats interesting to me, is in these added Story bits, there’s some contradictory info added to Higgs’ backstory. This doesn’t line up with his own journal entries, but its “revealed” that he was brought up by this adoptive mother ‘Coffin’ and was introduced to his new sister Fragile when he was young and Coffin died. He also got brought into the Terrorist organization from Coffin – many things that just aren’t true in the main game. He only knew Fragile as an adult, didn’t know of their sibling relationship, and became a terrorist due to Amelie instead.

Kojima has gone on record saying this edition shouldn’t be called “director’s cut” since the main game was all clearly his finished vision and not cut out, but simply additional content produced they decided to add in a new version.
So, I don’t know if these can be considered alt deleted scenes of Higgs’ backstory, or a retcon not reflected in the original content, but it’s a very interesting contradiction for the legend known as Kojima.

Also the payoff is kinda abrupt since its just 3 simple missions but at least I got that cool picture above at the end.
Also WTF we still can’t play music from the game in the open world or even use a media app in the background.
I kinda get why, but also not, since you only ever hear the soundtrack once, if you’re lucky you dont get interrupted.

Haven´t they gotten over their buggy phase after 2010? (I´m honestly not sure, since I haven´t played any of their post-2010 games yet)

So, I spent most of December and January pretty much addicted to Witcher III (mostly due to the Gwent deck-building tbh, couldn´t give two shits about finding Ciri, lol). I made it through Velen and Novigrad/Redania, all the way to the Skellige part. The Isles are absolutely gorgeous and the game is great, but frankly, I was starting to feel a bit of an Ubisoftish fatigue. As great as the game is, it´s just too bloody big and takes way too long to get through when one pays attention to all the sidequests. And I still have a long way to go…

As such, I was very happy for the release of Freelancer, as that allowed me to divert my attention elsewhere (even though I haven´t really played much of it, lol), and also allowed me to finally finish Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. A fun FPS, the gunplay is as tight and satisfying as the previous two entries, but it was also the weakest game of the three for me. Partly because of the somewhat underwhelming and often repeating locales (the Roswell streets and the New Orleans ghetto were great though), but mainly due to the questionable ´humour´. The game - just like its prequels - does a great job at building effective dramatic moments, but then kills them with these would-be funny/cool scenes, which are often absolutely inapropriate and frankly completely idiotic/not funny at all (toilet scene, minisub shagging scene, alien lizard dude, the whole Hitler bit, naked pregnant blood-covered Anya shooting Nazis wtf?, etc.). I´m not sure if the aim was to make the game feel more like a Tarantino movie, but it just missed the mark for me most of (all) the time. I did enjoy the world-building though, with all the extra stuff like the German music records (which absolutely didn´t have to be there), postcards/letters, and resistance members interactions. Thought about doing the Übercommander side missions as well, but the annoying Enigma minigame and the prospect of visiting the same corridors again convinced me otherwise. Maybe in the future…

As for Freelancer, well, like I mentioned, I didn´t play all that much, cause right after TNC I decided to finally play through Yakuza Kiwami 2´s campaign. But that´s for another post.

Not to mention all those unexplored ? areas on the map…

I mean, you gotta love the serious nod of approval the NPCs give you every time you suggest a round

Those in particular gave/give me that Ubisoft-like feeling tbh… (well, those combined with the sheer size of the map)

Yep, I’m really tired of games that have world maps that get filled with icons. Had a similar issue with Skyrim also

They already hear the Gwent music playing in their head
