I’ve been playing Balatro for a few weeks now (god its so damn addicting and thrilling chasing higher scores and as many special cards as possible).
I think the furthest one of my runs has gone is Ante 6? Or at least getting to Ante 7, then failing the first blind.
I’m not much of a strategist in the game, other than taking what Jokers I can and trying to build off of that for point-bonuses. But I know you can get some really crazy cars combos and multipliers.
Edit: (Well actually my main strategy is going for Straights-and-Flushes since they get big points in early rounds, so I can get one Blind done in one hand. I’ve unlocked all basic colour decks, so its useful for Blue and Green decks that can get you more money with leftover Hands.
Also even though I haven’t won one yet, I’ve been trying to unlock a few Locked jokers by winning a run without playing a Pair, 3-of-kind and 4-of-kind sets. Oops?)
Probably not very interesting but I decided to make a new Minecraft world to mess around with all the free movie tie in dlcs and while I was replacing my basement walls with sandstone I found buried treasure don’t think that’s ever happened to me before
Easy, Gobble Gum Grinding so I don’t have to pay real money to get powerful gums. The XP is a byproduct of it all.
How Am I Doing It?
Current AFK Farming Methods In Zombies. Is it exploiting? Most definitely, but I’m using game mechanics they broke ergo it’s a feature they let go into public builds of the game. Do I care? No cause Activision’s Greedy monetization practices.
Have I been playing anything else?
Infact I have! I’ve been playing Resident Evil Revelations on my Nintendo 3DS, I’ve also acquired copies of Rhythm Thief, Link Between Worlds, Spirit Tracks, and Phantom Hour Glass to add to my backlog!
I’m playing AC Shadows. I have played Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla and never really got too far into them. I just found them boring after a few hours.
This one is different. I’m hooked. The loot system is perfect. Not too much, not too little. The world design is beautiful. With that ray traced global illumination thing on it’s without a doubt the best looking game I’ve played. It’s worth giving up 60 fps for and 40 fps does not feel bad at all.
The combat is such a huge upgrade from its former titles. It’s not particularly challenging or anything, but it’s fun. The animations are super flashy and everything just looks cool when you slap people in the face with the ball of a kusarigama.
Voice work is trash all around lol, but I like the story so far. It’s not great or anything, but it’s servicable. The side activities leave a lot to be desired though.
Had a few bugs, mostly sound issues and one guy was T-posing and another enemy just stood there and didn’t fight back. Nothing game breaking.
There’s alot of flavor text about Japan so if you’re into that, you’ll be happy. The codex is huge and some entries are pretty sizeable!
Yasuke and Naoe feel worlds apart and that’s awesome. I mostly play as Naoe because she can do all the climbing and sneaking around stuff. But other times you just wanna be a big mean dude and smash everyone to pieces with a baseball bat (kanabo). It’s great!
The hideout building is also really cool in concept, I just wish there was a reason to go there other than to decorate it.
Did I mention how pretty this game is???!!! I snap a screenshot every 5 seconds lol. And even then, the photos don’t capture how it looks in motion with the simulated weather. Can’t believe this is what console games look like now.
Wow those look amazing! This makes me want to play it more than any promotional content, I’ve seen almost nothing about just exploring the beauty of the world.
Getting back into romhacks (and Pokemon in general) so I’m playing through Emerald Seaglass, an Emerald hack with Gen2 aesthetics and a few new features/additions/QoL adjustments on top. Visually amazing, not just for hacks/fangames, but I would place it amongst my favourite of any Pokemon graphics. The nostalgic GBC style combined with the slightly more modern experience is just so good.
I have just beaten Roxanne, so not too far in, but enjoying it a lot.
An oldie! This game is considered by many people to be one of the most challenging games ever made at the time… I had it and a lot of time on my hands. It’s a ‘cult favorite’ and I’m a proud member of said cult.
Chakan the Forever Man (Genesis/Mega-Drive)
This stage? It’s the 3rd level in the Fire Elemental Plane, and you can experience some real b.s. -mostly in the form of falling through platforms you jump over to. There’s also the constantly spawning enemies in the form of lava dragons. I actually took about 3 tries during this playthrough. 1st time in a long time? The number of attempts that were taken was in the double digits!
The next image below is the central hub. The blue (circles) are completed levels. The ones towards the center are the Terrestrial Plane levels, the outer are Elemental.
Nah! Of course not! The next/final boss is a Geigeresque machine that is carried by little goblins or something. You’d do well having the right alchemy potions going in. If you get killed you will get a different ending. Defeat it and… It loops endlessly with an erie hourglass with sands that will never run out. Until you reset the game.
Synth Riders added a new free song today, Flight of the Bumblebee! (New Exclusive ‘Extra Hard Difficulty: BEE Difficulty!’)
And for the April Fools celebrators, there’s a very special challenge version that has the notes rotate around you wildly like trying to catch a flying bee! (The challenge is called “BEEEEES!!”)
Hehe they do have fun there!
Also, I played Whip It by Devo on there tonight, and man, they are creative with the notes! They’ve arranged a string of notes in an arc during the chorus that kinda simulates the motion of “cracking a whip”!
Very cool, very fun, had me smiling
It snowed today. 2nd of April. It’s been very mild lately, a few chilly days, but we haven’t had snow in a month. Tomorrow we’ve got a high of 18°C, go figure.
Anyway, around the end of February, I told myself I would make God of War Ragnarok my next big cinematic game once it snowed again. (The game has a snowy vibe in all of its marketing, an endless winter being a key component of Ragnarok). Why? Just for the vibes, really. IDK. But that snow seemingly never came.
So I finally started that tonight as the outside world was blanketed with a layer of snow after a strange, sudden, windy afternoon of flurries.
I only lasted 5 minutes. I can’t play this tonight. Not after that gut punch, and if I can’t see with tears in my eyes.
In the first 5 minutes, a dog dies. I’ve never seen this dog, it’s only insinuated that Kratos and Atreus have been caring for it for a while, that it’s sick, and the Boy is fond of it, and he cuddles it as it dies in his arms (after a thrilling opening of being chased in the woods no less).
Just… damn. Not that Santa Monica knew I’d be playing this some months after my own family dog died, but man, I wish I’d been given a warning.
Pretty funny how the ultra-violent game about Punching, Stabbing, Murdering gods manages to get me to sob with a small scene about a dog dying of natural causes.
And I just can’t play this tonight, not after that. Damn.
I’m playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow again. Its one of the best games ever made, i love it, especially the voice acting and story telling. Just perfect.
