I love briefcases, but i’ve often found that the WoA could use more container types. here’s my brainstorming:
-Back packs: I can imagine these coming in one of two kinds small and large. essentially you take these with you and they’re always on your back, they’re used to store stuff that you dont want seen on your back or to take it pass climbing points. when you get frisked 47 turns around and the guard does both the pat down and the little “look inside” animation like with the briefcases
-Flower box: a container that can conceal any item past a frisk point, but at the cost of as soon as you open it to take out the item you destroy the container and can’t reuse it
-Plastic/shopping bag: a container that can only carry small items, but essentially turns those items into micro items. the item doesnt arouse suspicion when left alone and isnt picked up by other npcs
-Rifle cases: large briefcases which cant be thrown but make up for it by skipping any and all animations for taking out the items, including sniper rifles
I like the backpack idea because having a sniper is convenient but having a case you always have to hold, or drop when subduing, taken away if found, let alone remember not to leave the level without it to lose it over forgetting in the heat of the moment isn’t so much but keep in mind the 1, 3 or 5 sec animation when you pack/unpack I’m pretty sure is by design to make up for the convenience of having a weapon you can use from far distances.
I like the backpack idea, but making it a “hands-free” object might change the game mechanics (i.e., advantage of carrying sniper rifle or other illegal items, but disadvantage that can only carry two items (inside case and in hand) to be able to carry 3 items? Of course, they could make backpacks be hands-free for animation purposes, but retain the mechanics / balance.
The flower box (or any easily carried box) is a nice idea; reminds me of the mechanic shown in a “Hitman” [2016] features video where you could place something in a caterer’s container, which would then be carried by a server NPC past frisk zones.
In the current game, the only objects (when placed or dropped by 47) carried by NPCs are attaché cases (and its content) [there’s a toolbox, but it’s a reskin of attaché case] and guns of any kind; no “illegal item” bladed weapons, for example, are confiscated by guards and if you didn’t bring an attaché case and the map’s one of many without a carrying container on-map, no such manipulation.
I realise it’s not to Grim47’s topic (“New container types”)… Why not reskin an attaché case into a shopping bag? None of the mechanic changes suggested by Grim47, but at least it’s a visually different carrying container. We have a recolored coin, several reskinned ducks, and a few reskinned attaché cases being released; we got a neko, so why not a new carrying container?
