It irks me that I don’t have this weapon and I can’t get it.
Seeing a short on YouTube for the movie ‘A History of Violence’ - one of the antagonists (played by Ed Harris) has a scar on his face and is blind in the same side eye. And who does that immediately bring to mind?
A History of Violence came out in 2005,
And Kane & Lynch: Dead Men came out in 2007.
So it makes you wonder if Kane wasn’t inspired by Ed Harris’s character. ![]()
Well, I’ve got it added to my Amazon Prime watch list. It seems pretty interesting so I’ll have to watch it soon.
I’ve been meaning to rewatch A History of Violence as it’s been years since I first saw it. I remember thinking it was a great film back then, but that was when I was a lot younger so I’m interested to see how it holds up. Thanks for the info that it’s currently available on Prime!
And Kane wasn’t even the first character by IOI with similar deformities. There’s also… Cayne
… from Hitman Blood Money.
This is from the Modding thread, but I think it belongs here as well! Thank you @Minnow for pointing this out and shedding some light on this little mystery ![]()
Ooo, I’ll give you a little bonus fact then!
AR_Elite isn’t the only actor rank there is. The others are AR_Default (I can guess what this does) as well as AR_Cop and AR_Goon. The latter two aren’t ever assigned and are likely leftovers from Absolution. Not sure what they’d do, if anything, if you assigned them. Probably nothing :p
Maybe tne goon lets you drag bodies without saying anything and the cop would shoot you in the leg if you litter in front of him ![]()
My mind went elsewhere when I read the word “goon”.
I need to grow up apparently. ![]()
What about the “sticky”/“stalker” guards? Like the guards in the Patrick Morgan mission from the Sarajevo Six, or that one guard from that one Colorado escalation who always follows 47 around. Is there a special disguise code to follow the player around? Like “AR_Stalker” or something
No, that’s not an actor rank. Actor ranks are applied to the outfit as a whole - Morgan’s guards are regular Elites and the Stalker was a regular SpecOps, so if an actor rank was what made them do that, then every elite & specops guy would follow you around the map ![]()
The four I listed are the only four that exist.
Is it the actor rank that determines if 47 disguised as such is allowed to carry sniper rifles?
No, this is the only thing actor rank does AFAIK. Weapon allowances are determined in the same place though, and for guards basically go
- Optional property saying that this disguise is allowed to use weapons
- Additional list of weapons that the disguise is not allowed to use
although I haven’t looked at why e.g. waiters are allowed kitchen knives. It’s probably not a list of every weapon in the game :p
Alright, this is how it works:
Which is what I expected :p
It’s already pretty human readable, but basically it’s a list of allowed weapons that includes the kitchen knife and nothing else. Don’t ask me what postInit does. I have no idea. (This is the palace staff in Paris, for the record)
Yeah, what you’re referring to is stored in the weapon’s data and is usually called KEYWORD_DIALOGUE_[something]. It just determines which voice line a guard should use when telling you to drop what’s in your hands and surrender. There are a long list of items, and even more that were recorded but never used even though they’d fit perfectly! There’s recorded dialogue for “ball” for example, but isn’t used at all, even for baseballs, pool balls, cricket balls… and there’s no way to restore it via modding because it seems to need an enum, which only IO can create ![]()
This is also why we can’t restore the unused dialogue for the Deluxe suits, so nobody will ever acknowledge the fact that 47 is wearing a messed up devil mask…

Just kidding, it’s not that hard to understand.
Also for those who don’t know, this meme is Brazilian.
Nazaré Confusa
Summary
Brazilian actress Renata Sorrah surrounded by mathematical problems, in a scene from 2004 Brazilian soap opera Senhora do Destino , where she plays Nazaré Tedesco.
Lol, had to look it up.
Huh. I always assumed it was Julia Roberts (having a bad day).
I know right?! ![]()
Is why
Yeah, it’s probably post-initialization. That’s applied to loads of different stuff though (even completely different contextually, like actual NPC actors and acts) and I’ve never head anyone specify what it actually does. I have a vague memory of another modmaker saying that removing it makes no obvious difference besides making the game randomly crash sometimes, but I may have made that up, and it may just be a gap in my own knowledge :p
Safety reports regarding an interrogation chair and a hydraulic door in Dubai’s deposit box room. I assume these assets are reused all over the place, but who knows, maybe the tower does have a hidden interrogation room (or BDSM dungeon
) somewhere.
PS:
The originals in Sgail:
Lots of reused assets that make no sense at all especially with sheets of paper
